REFLECTION WEEK 6

Week 6 came upon us with a few more presentations to be finished. Miss Amreet had taught us the Grammar and Style in Writing for the Web. We were also to hand in our next assignment which was the web advertisement for our Diploma in English programme here in UPSI. We were to do it in pairs and I paired up with Marnya who to me is an expert in this thing. We decided to do a GIF rather than doing a POWTOON or a website like most of the classmates did. Our rational was that doing a POWTOON was more like a presentation, though I have seen some of those made and they did look like an advertisement, and doing an advertisement on wix.com was more towards the next assignment which is to create a web homepage for a business. We wanted to differentiate the two assignments; therefore we did a GIF as a web banner that we usually see on websites. In our opinion, doing a banner is a web advertisement. We designed and made the GIF on Photoshop.

REFLECTION WEEK 5

Miss Amreet planned to spend Week 5 with continuing the Prezi presentation. So that was what happened. More Group B students presented their topics and in what feels like a blink of eyes, now majority of this group has done presenting. This assignment is almost coming to an end. There are only eleven students who have not presented yet including me.
On 9 July, a few students presented their Prezis. Fortunately, this time all of the students volunteer themselves. It seemed like everyone wanted to get finish of this assignment soon. I was wondering why is that so but then, it is not very surprising since most of Group B students have already planned to go back to their hometown. For sure they want to settle every possible assignments before going home. Well, unsettled assignments could be a burden when all we want to do is just  relaxing in home sweet home. Those who have presented are Sheryl Oon presenting “Nightmares”. Just like the past week, my brain absorbed new information on this week too. N\Thanks to Sheryl, now I know that watching horror movies before sleeping contributes to nightmares. Nadia Nabila presenting “Bibliomania”. Bibliomania is a state out of ordinary where the patient collects books to the point where social relations and health are damaged. Syafieqa Ifwat presenting  “Walt Disney” I have always thought Walt Disney’s first cartoon featruring Mickey Mouse iThe Opry House but Ifwat’s presentation denied that. It was Steamboat WillieHalida Lutau presenting “Gadgets for the Future" If there is something I am most interested in Halida’s presentation entitled  Gadgets for the Future, it is the Pizza Hut’s Touch Table. It was one of the examples given and if it is real, it would be literally a dream come true for me. Zahid presenting “Rugby” Next, I learnt that from Zahid’s presentation that rugby is a very challenging game even for men. It is not a wonder that most rugby players are physically strong. Aynaa presenting “Rolls Royce : The Phantom Family” Besides that, Aynaa’s presentation taught me that Rolls Royce is a car company that produces three families; the Ghost, Wraith and Phantom. The video shown in her presentation was attention-grabbing. It showed how the luxurious car was made in a fully fastidious way. Ezlyn presenting “Love letter” Ezlyn has presented something about “Love Letter”. I love this title. It is adorable and practical at the same time. People are so obsessed with complicated technology nowadays that we forgot cute little things that bring us real happiness. Love letter is one of the examples where we could point out little things we like about our beloved. Azareena presenting “The language of Flower” Azareena, too managed to get hold of the whole class’ attention by presenting “The language of Flower”.  Zayana presenting “Vampires and Werewolves”  Zayana impressed me with her presentation of  “Vampires and Werewolves” since I love fantasy matters.I hope I will gain more knowledge next time. I also hope I will be able to present in the best way I can next week.

MY FAMILY

Family is an important unit of society. It holds great importance in social life. It is the strongest unit of society. A society is made up of families.
A family is the first school in which a child receives the basic values of life. He learns good manners in the family. The morals and values learnt in family become our guiding force. They make our character. They lay the foundation of our thinking. I feel fortunate to be born in a family where values are inculcated in early childhood.
I belong to a middle class family. There are six members in my family. They are our parents, my older brother, I and two younger brother. Ourfather is the head of the family. He enjoys a commanding position. His decision is final in family matters. Nobody can dare to go against him. Everybody respects him. He is the guardian of the family. He is a cool and considerate man. He is just and fair. His decision is never influenced by any other.
My father is a police officer. He is a great disciplinarian. He is sincere and hardworking. He always goes to office in time. My mother is a simple housewife. She is a postgraduate in English. She is soft-natured and caring. She takes great care of us. She does not care for her comfort for us. She looks after our grandparents. She helps the poor and the needy. She is religious and God-fearing.
Our family has been known for discipline and values. We give great importance to values and morals in life. Since our early childhood we are taught to respect the elders and love the children. We learnt the lesson of punctuality and honesty from our parents. It is due to the good education of our parents that we could excel both in sports and education. Since our childhood we have been put into the habit of rising early in the morning. This has a natural effect on our health and physical fitness.
Our family is like a heaven. There is peace, prosperity, love and care. The younger’s have regard and respect for the elders while the elders shower them with their love and affection. The instructions of the elders are followed with great respect. If a member has some problem the whole family is beside him. I am proud of my family.

MY FRIENDS

In our lives, we come across many people. We see new faces every day. Many of them remain anonymous, some may be acquaintances and some become our friends. Friends come and go throughout our lives and each friendship is a unique relationship. Some friends are joy to be with while others may bore us.
For me, my best friend is Ummi Suhairah, she is in the same age as me. Maybe because of that, we get closer easily compared to the others. We contact each other frequently. We were both exited if we met each other. We share the same hobbies. She is a petite girl, who stood at 1.53 meters. She really has a good sense of humour. Whenever I am with her, I will always laugh my head off.
She lives with her family in Damansara. Being the eldest in her family, she had the responsibility of looking after her other two younger brother and another two younger sisters.
Ummi is simple and had always lived up o her motto ‘Simple in virtue and steadfast in duty’. She always attire in baggy jeans and oversized t-shirt. She is very compassionate, always willing to lend a helping hand or give a sympathetic ear to other people’s problems. That is why, aside from my mother, I always share my problems with her.
‘No man is an island’. We all need friends. A man without friends is a lonely man. We need friends whom we can confide in and share our problems with. So, we should never ever take our friends for granted. Without friends, our lives would be boring.

REFLECTION WEEK 4

The class started with the presentations this week, and although our class apparently is the only class that has no volunteer, Ms Amreet had to call out randomly. Only seven were able to present this week since we had some technical problems on the second day. The presentations were insightful and I learnt many new things. I felt like I’ve travelled to Japan since two of the presentations talked about the Japanese culture. I am looking forward for the next week and God Willing, I am able to present and have this finished as fast as possible

MY SELF

My name is Ainun Shamila binti Abd Latif. I was born on 26th April 1995 in Alor Setar, Kedah but I grows in Kuala Lumpur after my parents decided to move to Kuala Lumpur when I was just three month old. I have four siblings including me. I have one big brother and two little brothers. I am the only daughter in the family but I'm not spoiled by my parents like others people thought about me. I learned to be independent because both of my parents are working and I need to work hard to get what I want.

My interests include, surfing the “world wide web” in order to keep updating my knowledge. I guess, my basic instinct, is to keep learning and exploring, all the times. Reading has been my hobby since childhood, and it is an activity, in which i spend most of my weekend time, till date. I can read anything; ranging from newspapers, magazines and novels.
Learning human nature is one of my other interests. Nature of every human being is so unpredictable and diverse; studying, how different persons respond under various circumstances, is what i really love. It is such an interesting hobby, as you tend to learn so many different aspects of an individual’s personality.
One of my other interests is, shopping. Even if it is just window shopping, I find myself always ready for. I guess the process of shopping also involves exploring various articles, in search of finding the perfect article of your choice. This could be a reason, that shopping interests me.
As a person, i think, i am sensitive but not too emotional, yet self-contained. Yes, at times, I find it hard to hide my emotions, though, in general I have a good control over the way, and I carry myself. Another aspect of my personality is that, I am a very creative person. I think, creativity is the key to any situation. One has to think creatively in order to break down a problem into the smaller and more manageable components.
